Darling, Hear Me Out!

                  Darling, Just Hear Me Out!

I know there’ve been times, like a puppy, I’m under your heels.

My repeated running on is what you cannot stand.

Your train of thought I’ve derailed, under attack your mind reels.

The trail of my mania may lead us to a strange land.

Darling, just hear me out: your ear to wear out is not my plan.

Please hear my plea on bended knee: I’m just a rambling man.

When to “What’s Avagardro’s Number” an answer I don’t get,

Too late I comprehend you’re not listening in self-defense.

            Then when I find myself talking to myself, I don’t fret;

Love the sound of my voice, on and on at my expense.

If I’m patient and choose my time you’ll listen when I speak.

I’ve learned there are other ways to get your attention.

One time it may take an hour, next time it may take a week.

I’ve found email to be a wonderful invention.

Darling, just hear me out: your ear to wear out is not my plan.

Please hear my plea on bended knee: I’m just a rambling man.

We know and honor each other’s likes and dislikes and habits.

We’ve been a longtime pair, each other to accommodate.

Your require your “space” – to annoy you I’d risk no gambits.

For a mutual understanding it’s not too late.

Darling, just hear me out: your ear to wear out is not my plan.

Please hear my plea on bended knee: I’m just a rambling man.
