Cutting ties

Thu, 07/02/2020 - 16:27 -- sfishr

Some find it hard

choosing between heart and head,

even when the perpetrators don’t deserve

forgiveness let alone

another chance.

A trait I adopted from my mother.

You would often joke that I had a

cold heart, but you were absolutely right,

you just hadn’t experienced it –

yet.

Through those glasses,

everything about you was tinted rose.

My love for you surpassing the love

for myself.

And see, that is where I go wrong,

giving half-full people my

full heart.

This poem is about:
Me
