A Couple’s Quarrel
“You went away and left me here,
Although you said you’d always be near.
I watched you walk away and say good-bye,
Then I sat down right there and cried.
I thought you loved me,
Reality, I now see.
I knew and wished and prayed,
But I wasn’t enough for you to stay.
You said you set me free,
Free to be the real me,
Only you didn’t think it through,
‘Cause I’m only me, when I’m with you.”
“You say you’re only you with me,
But that’s not how my life can be.
I set you free, I left you here,
Without one single tear.
You wanted me to stay,
But I can’t live life this way.
You’re always there,
No matter where.
Your love is too much to bear
And this I say, to be fair.
I loved you once, which is true.
How do you love someone so blue?”
“How do you love someone so blue?
I’m only blue because of you!
Have I not said? Have you not heard?
Before I met you, I was as free as a bird.”
“Like a birds you say?
Ha, that’d be the day.
You were sad, lonely, and bitter,
I suppose like a bird with no twitter.
So, your word is true, a bird indeed,
Just a lonely old bird with no seed.”
“To me, like that, you dare to talk?
If so, you better turn and walk.
If I remember correctly.
You talked of love directly.
You had made a plan,
That washed away like sand.
I never thought of you as bold,
To say those words, so cold.”
For them no love belong,
For they waited too long.
Their memories of their fate,
Had turned to bitter and hate.
Their words are sad to hear
And to others bring fear.
A loss of love; nothing’s worse,
Crushing like a deadly curse.
They had many hopes and dreams,
But nothing is what it seems.
A single couple’s quarrel.
A tragedy of turmoil.
The blame, to them, is not to share,
Only one needs to care.
