We tend to overlook this average piece of furniture
For the focal point of the room is often the television
It doesn't mind to be sat on, laid on, drinks spilled on
The support offered when we don't feel like standing
The laziness supported when we don't feel like doing
Who knew a piece of furniture could mean so much?
The sleep gained
The laughter shared
The love made
The memories made
The lowly couch with it's lumps, bumps, interesting smells, and crumbs
It's leather, fabric,, vinyl, what have you
Humble, not asking for attention
Like that loud television
We owe it to the couch
For doing so much
