Consumed By Thoughts

Its crazy how you can lose yourself, trying to find something you THINK you need,

friends, love, belonginess, causing you so much stres.

The laughter, the memories, never thought it would end this way, ya know

they say that some people come in our lives as blessings and others as lessons

and I sure have learned mine, some of these smiles in your face is just a disguise.

Love, you think he loves you? babygirl, have a seat and learn your value.

"Send me a pic on snapchat, you know it will go away" now he showing everyone

Billy, John, even Ray Ray, now what do you have to say?

Like I said, it's funny how you search for something you think you need, belonginess

and trying to fit in this society.

Stop thinking that everyone is your friend, they wanna see you do good, but never

better than them.

You scream IM BLACK AND IM PROUD, but are you? Dark skin, light skin

thats the issue.

So caught up in being "red bone" or "foreign" thinking thats all to beauty,

showing shape and having all that booty.

Have respect, have virtue maybe, just maybe then people will respect you.

Now we have our young black men with so much integrity, but still live

everyday with a slave mentality.

Acting out and carrying on that you're grown, but it's a shame that someone

has to be over you to do the right thing, you wont do it on your own.

Our history is constantly being told by those who have no right, then we get mad

rowdy and uptight.

You cant let people scare you, you cant let the judgement of others

stop you from being you.

This is YOUR story, write what you know is TRUE!
