Clandestine

Somewhere we walk the line

An affair where lovers find

The clandestine

Forgive me for what I’ve left behind
My hurt, my heal, my pride

They said beauty should be enough
But
It isn’t if you truly knew me

Not if we ever touch

Not if we ever feel alive

I found freedom in your lips

When you whisper the promises

We keep concealed

Like callouses
In my palms

Waiting to be revealed

Before too long

Before we lie remiss

Side by side, holding hands
Grasping on to someone who understands

What this is to fall

I no longer want to hurt

I no longer want to hide
I can't

I just want you to unearth

These feelings I have buried so deep inside

Forgive me for what I’ve left behind
My hurt, my heal, my pride

They said beauty should be enough but

It isn’t if you truly knew me

Not if we ever touch

Not if we ever feel alive

I found freedom in your lips

And now our love

No longer has to be so clandestine.
