Civil Appreciation

Actions that transpired to bring us a better today,
From the past to the present, paved the way,
The likes of you and I and the privileges we have,
Were once fought for and killed for on our behalf.
A powerful movement, is what it was, and what it became,
Civil Rights, Oh! The world you have changed!
Remembering then…till now, your presence is still felt,
Because of your hope and splendid courage, with racism you dealt.
Civil rights I appreciate you, and I’m thankful we’ve met,
This freedom you’ve given me I hope you don’t regret.
I won’t let you down; I’ll keep standing up for equality,
And remaining civil and grateful, for the rights that you’ve given me.
