Childfree

Someone asked me,

"Why are you childfree?

Don't you want to see your face?

The continuing of your race?"

How do I give this explanation?
Children are not just a continuation

They are human beings

Sentient and are damaged easily

One must not  take up the task

Merely to see their own external mask

I'm too much of a miser

To spend money on diapers

I'm too selfish to devote time

To any minor in the care of mine

Speaking of resources, I prefer loot

At least that does not make poop

As for emotional support, I am unable

It will be a miracle if I find a relationship that's stable

And then there are my parents

Whom I view with ambivalence

The likelihood of repeating their drawbacks

Terrifies me like a mouse in a house of cats

So I admire your blind idealism

But do respect my pragmatisn

Maybe it's pessimism

The only way a kid will float my boat

Is if I ever want to raise a goat.
