The Chase

Location

I can feel my heart beat

To the sound of the ground beneath my feet

I see what could be mine,

A prize above all others.

I push myself to do my best

I must go on,

Or else my dream

It will not come true,

I shall always be Number 2.

Never to be the one to shine

That is why I must rise

There’s one now

I’ll chase them down

I am a blur as I go by

Chasing my prey until I die

I won’t be beat

I’ve worked too hard

Hurt my foot

I must go on

Have to keep running even if I’ve lost

A mile to go, nothing in my way

Might I finally make it today

End of the line for everyone else

I have won and they all fell

Dead in their tracks

when they saw me

Not just catching up

But taking the lead.
