Change

Nothings perfect in our world.

Some of us thing we are,

but we all have our quirks,

our… issues.

I don’t mind calling myself an imperfect human being,

there’s always room for change in me.

There’s always room for change in general,

but I’m going to stick to today.

I’m not one who’s going to relish in the past,

nor am I going to fear the future.

Today is enough for me,

and if it’s going to be my last,

I’m going to live it well.

Today, I hope to change something,

whether it’s my appearance,

my knowledge,

or even my friendship with another person.

Hell, I wouldn’t even mind changing my relationship status,

but I want today to be different.

Today, I might invent something useful,

or I might just volunteer in class to do a problem on the board.

Today, I might discover an unknown element,

or maybe I’ll just try and understand a chemistry lesson,

for once.

Today, I might write a play meant for Broadway,

or maybe just sticking to reading Macbeth.

Today, I might paint something better than the Mona Lisa,

or just doodle on the test I should be taking.

Today, I think I’ll just write a poem,

a poem about change.

But that’s only if,

I can get my lazy-ass out of bed
