Cardboard Box
Sitting in a box that’s way over my head.
I know it’s made of card, but today it’s dense like lead.
I could claw my way out, or put my foot through the wall.
Except I lack the motivation to do anything at all.
When I’m feeling this way, there’s nothing nobody can do.
Nobody can save me, not my closest, not even you.
Don’t let it get you down though, because it’s not you it’s all me.
I’m better left alone, in my cardboard quarantine.
Although life is a gift, it wasn’t my request.
I’ve fumbled my way through it,
living each day with regrets.
You can say I’ve made a difference to those I’ve come to know.
But it means nothing to me, when I’m feeling this low.
I’ll keep you in my thoughts, I’ve left some room for you.
I’m sorry for all the bullshit and heartache I’ve caused you.
Pour some water on me, so I can find my way.
Help me break down my cardboard box, to brighten up my day.
