The Camera That Sinned
It doesn't do a lot of talking
But for something that doesn't speak
It sure says a lot of words.
Sometimes, the camera can be this
Light that shines on positvity
And lets the creative and vibrant vibe come
From within,
Other times, the camera can be this mirror
Full of self hate and negative vibes..
And the only way to get rid of that perspective,
Is if we put on a filter..
Is that why we use Negatives?
Those negatives such as black and white-
Black and White?
Isn't that how we view the world today?
Black on Black violence,
Protesters and cops, Black and White silence
It's crazy how the world is right now.
It makes me want to drive away,
Adding on more mileage.
But wait! I can't, 'cause if I do that,
The camera that once loved me
And helped me take pictures for Instagram,
Will turn around and catch me speeding,
Hands down.
The only way I could make myself innocent,
Is if I lied and like most of these models,
put a filter on it.
But since lying is a sin,
What good does it make of a man
Or a woman to lie about who he/she is?
Often times, when we take pictures,
We use a filter to enhance ourselve
And other times, we use a filter to diminish our beautiful flaws.
Flaws- what's a flaw to you, may be a flaw to someone else.
You can buy all the Mac there is
You can use all the makeup you want
But looking into that mirror,
Do you feel how you look?
When you take that picture
And get hundreds of likes,
Are they liking you for you?
Or who you're trying to look like.
No filter....
Sometimes when I'm upset and feel
Like breaking down,
I put filters on so everyone sees me
As happy,
But internally,
I'm a wretch
It's funny how the eyes can play
Tricks on people...
Now you see me, now you don't.
