Cage

My body is a cage.

Its walls made of flesh and tissue

As long as I am trapped in this body

I will never be free.

My lips are sealed together

Locking away the words I so badly wish to say

Holding in secrets

That are forever burrowing deeper inside me.

There are metal bars surrounding my heart

Holding my soul in an iron fist

Rusted chains dig into my skin

Holding me down against the tear soaked concrete.

The blood that courses through my veins

Is bitter and cold

The air I inhale

Is toxic.

My

Body

Is

Cage

And

Am

Holding

Me

Captive.
