Burnt Roses

Staring in the light of the fire
Watching these roses turn to black
I’m burning them to pieces
So the memories won’t come back

As the petals slowly crumble
So do the memories in my mind
The ones that are hard to bury
But easier to find

Future mistakes prevented
From lessons that I’ve learned
More pain and hurt will disappear
Like the roses that I’ve burned

The black smoke rises high above
And blends into the dawn
Those final memories drift away
Until your finally gone
