Bullets Stop Hearts

The sky is dark

With smoke and silt

The bombs that fall

Flash red and white

They've made their decision

No one can be spared

Men strap up

Guns fire at nothing

The planes drop molten death

And scream out overhead

The ground it burns

Shells coat the soft earth

The war has begun

It won't quickly end

The men run now

As bullets stop hearts

They've made their list

They call out names

The gun is placed

In my hand

I thought I could be free

And you could stand

Safely next to me

Learn to ignore my screams

Know I'm sorry

Know I'll miss you

They've called my name

I cannot stay

Surely you've heard

My pleas for you

They take you away

But I have to go
