A century before,
Not quite a distant enough memory
brother fought brother
on an all too familiar soil.

The only winners were those
Who were freed from bondage
But not quite relieved
Of systematic oppression.

Then a hundred years later,
Brother joins brother
In a righteous crusade
For civil rights.

Though an ongoing struggle,
We have seen the light
And acheived the deliverance
Of equality among Brothers.
