Broken Mirrors

Location

I live within broken mirrors—

Fragmenting my mind.

Each piece provides another

Distorted view

Of the perfection I try to find.

Each crack scars

The delicate skin

Of the innocence within

The body I've been taught to hide.

My soul remains fragile

As the skin upon these bones

Rips.

I crumble

To fit within the jagged pieces.

Pushing and pushing

Deeper into my skin,

Until that which is scarred upon me is a

Smile.
