She sighed in despair after an anxious await
For a phone call from her latest mistake.
Rejected again for a night with the guys
She sits home alone and puts up with his lies.

The tears fall down as the truth sets in
She swore to herself she wouldn't fall for this again.
Where is her prince charming?
Where did he go?
I guess there are just some things she will never know.

The sleeping child she's holding will never know her dad
She'll never quite understand why her mommy is sad
She may not ever wonder "where did daddy go?"
But deep inside her heart she's dying to know.

So she grows up alone without a father there
Mom is working three jobs
Does she really care?
She's pregnant at a young age
She's scared to death to show
The father left her all alone and her mom doesn't even know.

So the moral of this story
I bet you could have guessed
Be careful who you choose
First isn't always best
Don't waste your life searching
For what you cannot see
Keep your heart locked away
And be careful who gets the key
