Broken Glass
Delicate is that fancy cell phone held,
that sharp bottle sits, that youthful face drives.
So quickly, like the years of childhood, do
signs pass the road blurs on into the night.
Darkness eclipses the distracted teen
Looming as an evident sign to come
How much warning must it take to change this?
How many more must die before we learn?
Adults always warn about Broken Glass.
What a silly thing, the final worry
The last thought had before the big impact
But really how much glass does break – must break
For that phone to be put far to the side
Or that glass to not make it for the ride
