Broken.
The cracking of the bone
echoed deep within my soul.
I faded in and out.
My limbs became cold.
What seemed like seconds
was more like hours.
The beeping was steady.
Guests came bearing flowers.
By my bedside
as if I had no more life to live.
Little did I know,
I had one less leg to give.
A simple break,
it could not be.
I peered under the sheets,
indeed, amputated above the knee.
