Breathe

Woah!
Where are you going?
Why all the rush?
Your strides are lengthy
Your heart’s beating fast

Stop
Right here, with me
Take my hand
I’ll show you
The beauty you’re missing

Look up
Never a day goes
Where the heavens above
Are empty of treasure
Void of wonder

Look down and remove your shoes
Wiggle your toes
Be it soft, warm, green grass
Or cool, murky water
Be submersed in nature

Soak in the sun
Stand still and turn upwards
Bask in its glory
Let it warm your soul
And lighten the mind

Listen to what’s around you
Hear the soft music
The wind rustling the leaves
The birds singing the refrain
The water gurgling along

Pause in the flow
Of a busy day
And watch those around you
The things you can learn
The light you can gain

People take advantage
Never enjoy the differences
Never notice subtleties
Demand love and friendship
No appreciation of the world

Step out from behind me
I’ve taught you all I can
Don’t grasp for my fingers
I’ll stay beside you
As we discover together
