Growing up I never learned the true meaning behind I love you

I wondered why even love at all when it ends in heartbreak 

I heard the words but wondered if it was true

I love you I love you it's all fake

I saw mama cry after every date

My heart grew with hate

Married for half your life then it's over

Fifty percent of marriages end

Love is just getting colder

Since sleeping around is the newest trend

I wish I love you meant something

If you pour out your heart

You are left with nothing

Love for me was doomed from the start

What is the meaning of I love you

I have no clue

Because happiness is never a guarantee 

It's simply not a reality 

Or at least it was not a reality for me
