Because I would
If I can only write once
I better make it count
Should I list of the things I must say?
For it would be quite large amount
Because I say enough with the homeless
The hungry, the cruel.
Is it really necessary for society
to have so many rules?
Because I would think
Maybe oppression leads to rebellion
And that, essentially, rules give rise
To angry, vengeful hellions.
Because I would feel
What we all have felt:
The need to conquer
Things left undealt
Because I would do
What has probably be been done before.
Some unoriginal way to protest,
To be silent, to understand no more.
And yet I wonder,
Of all the things to write…
Why am I drawn to the problems of the society
And their helpless plights?
And yet I wonder,
How am I to stand strong and be heard?
When it seems at times,
I am at a loss for words.
If I only write once,
There is only one thing I’d say:
Fight for what you believe in,
Don’t let yourself fade away.
