...Because I Love You

I was told actions speak louder than words

But few recognize how words twist the soul

Some I hear have connotations absurd

And I wonder if it's really their goal

To guilt others into pleasing them

Or force their tongue to say words they don't mean

They, in turn, reply with a requiem

But the hurt in their heart is left unseen

It's not a power of love, but to love

That pull these words from your heart, not from lust

They are an invitation, not a shove

For love bears open arms, and faith, and trust

It's the sefless acts that should follow through

With the simple words "...because I love you"
