(If I were stranded on a deserted island I would bring my love and respect for nature with me).
I sat up on the hill,
My gaze caught the shore, forest, and stream,
Oh, what a thrill!
T’was the most glorious dream,
The trees drifting in the breeze,
The sun’s rays meeting the sea just right,
To create bouncing luminous balls of light on the waves,
The clouds were painted red, orange, pink, and purple tones by the sun light,
I must be in a daze!
The birds chirped and the little animals scurried,
The finches, sparrows, and starlings once again sang joyous songs,
A herd of deer sipped from the blue, crystal clear stream,
A monarch fluttered and pattered past, its beauty I have not seen for very long,
These creatures were presumed extinct, is this a dream?
Suddenly I stirred and awoke from my deep slumber,
The sea was sand,
The trees were charred,
The skies filled with dense, black smog,
The creatures were nowhere to be seen,
I then remembered what I was doing before I slept,
I visited my favorite look-out spot,
I cried at the sight of it being stripped of its beauty,
Upon looking at the ghastly sight, my heart shattered, it was shot,
I collapsed looked up to his glory,
I begged to see the world as I once saw,
For a second he brought it back for me to awe.
