Be Careful What You Write

Location

An experienced writer, the singer in a band
You know what you want to say
But first you need a plan
Maybe you could share your way of doing things
Or do what they do better
And tell them in a song, or an unattached letter
But wait before you open up and start to free your mind
You realize you don’t know the story
Perhaps you’re completely blind
What if you placed the stamp, or clicked enter, or hit send
And the rest of the world read before you could explain it and defend
It started as a story and a vent to creativity
But ended up beaten and knocked down with selectivity
I’m not suggesting you never speak or write
But the freedom of speech must be a carefully exercised right
Just remember what you say or the rest of the world will
And use your pen with caution
If you won’t, then keep it still
