Barbie Girl

Remember when you asked me to dance?

You took my hands because I could barely stand

Five years old

Heart of gold

When that song came on the radio

You whirled me around, you didn't let go

Laughing with my Barbie

Dancing right next to me

Barbie Girl was my song

You knew the words, so you sang along

We danced all night

You pulled me in, my feet took flight

Up in the air you lifted me

The kind of dancing you see at the end of a fairytale movie

The nights grew colder,

and even though now I'm much older

There's not a day that goes by

Where I don't wish you were still dancing by my side

Your little girl with a head of curls

Grew up like her parents

She wishes she could still have that dance

I miss the days when I had nothing to care about

Instead of being twenty two with a heart of doubt

So I'll dance quietly, alone in my room

No one around but the bright white moon

I set up my stuffed toys

They're my new audience of girls and boys

I play our song

And I sing along

As if I were five again and nothing ever ended

I play pretend

With my Barbie friends

You walk in, smile, and shake your head

As you sit quietly on my bed

You take my hand

And we dance one last dance

Up in the air

Flowing long hair

Your little girl

Ruled the world

To this day

Our song will play

Little Barbie

Your little darling
