Bad Beginnings

I wish to be of bravery,

A wish too brave to stand;

With all the airs of legacy,

Cowardice stays my hand.

And though I claim my loyalty

Will far exceed my time,

My dedication is to sanity

And far exceeds my mind.

With all this I swear honesty,

Broken in its vow;

My promise brings its casualties

Tumbling to a bow.

But before the curtain closes

And before the deed is done,

I boast repose, propose a toast

To the beginnings I've begun.
