Babies

Where did the babies go?

Bring them back

With little wings in small buggies

Right to their mama’s laps

To smile and giggle

Sit-up, suckle and clap

Bring the babies back to earth

Because all those babies are gone

Bring my babies back

Brothers and Sisters who didn’t think scars were enough

To drown out the sadness

They leveled up, but didn’t get to re-spawn

Those veterans of pain and sadness

They just lost patience with time

Forget the graduation, first job, house, or love

They skipped it all and quit

They must have overlooked all around them are

Those that have been doing this for years already

You think you know pain and loneliness

You are truly a child my dears

Their thirty, fifty, and eighty years

All that time to live and you can’t even handle 18

Let alone 15 or even younger

I know you have had a rough patch but darling,

I love love love you all

So come back to me

Show me your face

Dig yourselves up from your sleep if you can

Step into the sun with me

Brothers and Sisters

My babies

Because you were only just babies

Not a moment ago to your mothers

They held you then and hold you now

Just babies

Bring back the babies
