Are You Afraid of the Dark?

Thu, 07/23/2020 - 00:21 -- DJS2019

Are you afraid of what lies beneath?

Afraid of the things that stand in the darkness, watching you.

The things that keep you up at night.

Are you afraid of how the wind blows,

and what comes in with it?

Or the lightning that strikes as you lay there paralyzed, with a weight on your chest?

Are you really afraid of the darkness?

Or are you just scared of not being able to see what’s standing right in front of you?

Fear of darkness must not be real,

but how dark the room is and how closed off your mind is,

that is what makes your mind race and that is what scares you.

The next time the power goes out,

and you sit in the dark alone,

ask what’s out there and if you should be afraid of it.

Because it’s not the dark you’re afraid of,

it’s the mirror that you didn’t know was in there.
