Anthem of the Homeless

We are the voiceless masses in the streets, we are the ones you can't ignore.

They cast their eyes to the ground and see our feet, naked on the cold hard floor.

We are the weary hands that built these walls until you threw us to the wolves.

Without a hope or a prayer in the dark at all, they follow the blind like fools.

When did reality get tangled up with all our darkest fears?

When did humanity become so blind to all our brothers' tears?

A thousand times we wondered why we have lived a thousand years,

But now I finally realize our cries fall on deaf ears.

We have no home, no hope, no life, no land. We have only sickness and disease.

And as the strength fades from our shaking hands, the pain brings us to our knees.

Though it is said everyone has a cross to bear, should this cross be built of stone?

If not one will strike the emergency flare, how can we stand on our own?

When did reality get tangled up with all our darkest fears?

When did humanity become so blind to all our brothers' tears?

A thousand times we wondered why we have lived a thousand years,

But now I finally realize our cries fall on deaf ears.

There is no refuge from the sickness, no solace for the sane.

Now Death becomes the witness, and Ignorance the blame.

No eye can pierce the blindness with conscience still to gain.

When life is long behind us, all will be the same.

When did reality get tangled up with all our darkest fears?

When did humanity become so blind to all our brothers' tears?

A thousand times we wondered why we have lived a thousand years,

But now I finally realize our cries fall on deaf ears.

As you see our lives begin to plummit to the depths,

Will you look upon yourselves and feel no regret?

The lives of those whose Poverty shows as miniscule to the rest,

Are so much the lives of innocent men and women doing their best.

When life begs to rid of these rags, and yet still there is no hope for the broken,

When Simon of Cyrene is not to be seen, is it right to leave with words unspoken?

Though the rest of the world rests earless, it is time to take a stand and be fearless.

When did reality get tangled up with all our darkest fears?

When did humanity become so blind to all our brothers' tears?

A thousand times we wondered why we have lived a thousand years,

But now I finally realize our cries fall on your ears.
