Another Path

Out of focus
And dim of light,
I remember a boy,
no, young man is right.

The love of his youth
by his side.
Foggy memories of smiles
And eyes bright.

Time stood still
For just awhile.
He made her laugh,
made her smile.

Feelings strong
emotions high.
This love was true
This love was right.

Soon oceans divided
far away shores,
Distance was cruel
To the love they adored.

Time moved quickly
Never to be seen.
The young man moved on
And so did his queen.

Chosen paths,
opposite directions
What happened to those times
And all the affection?

The love remains forever
with unfulfilled intentions.
The time is gone.
Forever lost.

The love of his youth
Called above.
Another path chosen...
What was the cost?
