And the Home of the Afraid
....AND THE HOME OF THE BRAVE!!!
The crowd's roar, but maybe I've got a little voice telling me there's more.
If bravery means winning and fighting and gore,
Then I am a coward, just that and no more.
Maybe the dawn's early light wasn't bright enough
to shed light on those of us
Who cannot see the valor in guns and being "tough"
Could it be there's victory in graciously accepting defeat
In laying down arms to take each others hands?
The rockets red glare is shining too bright in my eyes
to see the silver-lining in this war-crazed time
Our country has always preached human rights
Does that not mean rights for all humans!
Why can't we talk instead of "fighting the good fight?"
Through this we, people of the world, can all find respite.
