And with That...
And with that, middle school was over.
I gazed upon the building that had housed me the past three years,
All the accomplishments and failures, embarrassment and laughter.
A house full of people I’d known all my life
I would have to say good-bye to that day.
I went over my yearbook again and again,
Signed by those who I knew wouldn’t keep in touch,
And by those who I knew would,
And sprinkled with memories of the years I would miss.
And with that, middle school was over.
And with that, high school had started.
I gazed upon a new building that would house me the next four years,
Filled with opportunity and potential, new teachers and classmates.
A house full of people I’ve never met,
I would have to introduce myself to that day.
I went over my schedule again and again,
Finding new people in my classes (potential friends),
And new teachers I’d be seeing a lot from now on.
Sprinkled with the memories I knew I would make.
And with that, high school had started.
And with that, freshman year was over.
I gazed upon the building that had housed me my first nervous year,
All the introductions and mishaps, new people and classes.
A house full of new friends I felt like I’d known forever,
I felt so much closer to that day.
I went over my summer plans again and again,
Making plans with the people I knew I’d see next year,
But couldn’t wait to see again.
Sprinkled with the excitement of the memories to come.
And with that, freshman year was over.
