Always a Student

Prepare me for the real world, what comes next

How can you show me that through your texts,

The tests, and the best part is

Twenty-one years old, I haven't learned that lesson

Stuck in a classroom since I was five

How can you teach a person to be alive,

To strive to succeed, is it something

In your veins? The As on my papers tell me I've got the brains

But it feels like something's missing

It's not school I'm dissing

Only this feeling of drifting

I just don't know anything else but the desks

I don't know enough to face what comes next

So I'll stay in school until my pockets wear thin

And hope that you can show me where to begin
