Alone and Afraid

What if we're alone?

The stars we see merely an echo;

Of something long gone

What if God abandoned us;

Or lost us to infinite space?

We wouldn't know until it was too late;

Until the last of us died,

When the sun didn't shine,

The last star in the sky,

Out like a light,

Gone.

Maybe Earth's on its own;

Stuck;

All alone

Maybe we've got no one to guide us

Empty belief;

Blind faith;

Religion without reason

Maybe he is there;

Watching,

Looking on,

Dissapointed.

Maybe we're already dead;

Watching our lives flash by

Our seven seconds are up;

All alone and afraid.

What could we do;

If the worst were true?

If we were truly alone.
