Alone

Tue, 01/26/2016 - 18:54 -- Burrie

If I were stranded.

Alone

On an island with nothing but myself

Nothing but my feet in the sand

And the sounds of the ocean

Crashing ceaselessly into the earth.

If I were stranded on an island

With a constant breeze and a coconut tree.

If I were stranded on an island

With all my survival needs met

Food, water, sleep

What I would need is simple

A clear mind

Peace within myself

If I were stranded on an island

I’d need a way to shut that stupid voice in my head up

To put that annoying voice to rest

And be at ease knowing I was stranded.

That no one is coming to my rescue.

That I will be alone. Forever.

That voice called Hope

I’d need to drown Hope in the ocean

And be able to deal with the constant sounds of nature

And the unsurmountable silence

If were stranded on an island

I couldn’t keep Hope with me

I’d have to be there alone.

Me, Myself, and I.

If I were stranded on an island

All I would need is for Hope to die.

And then I could find peace

In the loneliness

And then there would be hope of survival.
