Alligator Friend

I know an alligator was what you mentioned
And I had a cute little one in mind
But sadly, I didn't get you one
Of any sort or any kind.

You see, alligators are in hibernation
At this blessed time of year,
So I was not able to get you one,
And plus, I didn't know how I'd get it here!

Now if an alligator is what you seek
For you to be filled with joy and glee,
Perhaps you can visualize one
Hanging on your sparkling Christmas tree.

He'll wink at you and smile
And be as happy as he can be,
And he'll remind you that this Christmas,
You have an alligator friend in me.
