All I Have Been
I have been the battered woman and the abusive husband,
I have been the slave and the plantation owner,
I have been the starved and the obese,
I have been the free-loving hippie and the shellshocked Vietnam vet,
I have been a religious prohibitionist and a violent drunk,
I have made love and craved intimacy,
I have been the Queen of England and a lowly serf,
I have met my match and have only begun,
I have been day and night,
I have been sunlight and darkness,
I have been you, and he, and she,
I have been everything, because everyone is someone.
