After you

My body grew tired of your abuse and constant slander

So I grew claws on my fingertips, and you can no longer hold my hand

I developed an acidic kiss; you’ll soon forget the taste of my lips

And I have a caustic bark that tears at my vocal chords

But it keeps you quiet

I have created a masquerade of invulnerability

I hide behind my viscous reproach

You cannot hurt me if I am preoccupied with destroying myself

Because there is no gentle, sweet, soft girl anymore

The one with soft red hair has now set it aflame

And my inviting curves are sharp daggered edges that will cut any man who approaches

My bones were splintered and now each embrace leaves both parties aching

I created my new self in defense of my old person
