Accepted, Rejected, Deferred

Accepted, Rejected, or Deferred

This goes out to all those accepted, rejected or deferred.

They say they don't wanna accept me,

So I said reject me,

But they rather pull on my heart strings and say that I'm deferred,

"You're almost good enough to be in our school"

No Sir, I beg to differ!

I don't care if you only accept 20% of your applicants,

The top 20% of that 20% couldn't step to my shit,

I don’t care if their SAT and ACT scores are better than mine,

Standardized test scores don't mean I'm inferior in mind,

Alright, so they can do a math problem faster than me, and can write an essay better than me,

But ain’t nobody better at being me, then me!

I’m a National Orator and a leader among my peers,

I have a way with words, but I’m gifted with two listening ears,

I have a kind heart, and only want to see people prosper,

But because my scores aren’t as high as another, I don’t get the same acceptance offer?

Okay okay I know I write and talk with a lot of colloquialisms and bad grammar, but just consider me bilingual in Hood vernacular.

Don’t put my application to the side because the first thing you check is my scores,

You may think you’re saving time, but you’re actually losing more,

So to all those accepted, rejected, or deferred,

It doesn’t matter if they accept us,  as long as we accept ourselves, ya’heard!
