Let The Lilies Take You Away
Let the aroma,
the sweet intoxication,
of the lilies
take you away.
Their white petals,
beckoning,
follow them
to the soft innocence
of the child I once knew.
Do not be afraid.
Let the bend,
the sudden snap,
of their stems
sound in the wind.
Watching the flowers droop,
resignating,
let go of your heavy soul
just depart with them
and rest too.
Do not be afraid.
Let the thorns,
the sudden pain,
like slipping away,
rip you free.
Keep your eyes shut,
ignore the haze.
I pray to God,
it will go away.
Do not be afraid.
Let the fields,
new lands away from here,
take you
somewhere else
to grow.
For your bloom was more,
than the barren patches
of this empty grove.
