The Castle Is Elegant
The Castle is elegant
Ornate and pristine
However its configuration
Was made to deceive
Who will believe
The evils that occurred here?
The yelling, screaming
The palpable fear
The evils perpetrated
The evils perpetuated
And generations saw it as normality
Or maybe- possibly
The truth would have illuminated
The garish, ghastly, and grotesque reality
So no one tried to escape
Rather tried to manage
To keep the outside looking great
Ignoring the internal damage
Oh interior dilapidated!
Alas the insanity tolerated
The length of duration defies logic
Is this a tale of Southern Gothic?
Nay! William Faulkner could not have concocted a tale of a foundation so rotten
Mary Flannery O'Connor may well- be able to tell the tale
In contrast to her Southern Belle
Whose demure act has failed.
Oh this tale that fiction has forgotten!
Nevertheless, I am that brave
To be the Castle's knave
I'm leaving the premise to never return
May the Castle eventually feel its residents' spurn
