One thinks its well will never hit bottom
Floating down its meandering river
Until one sees the far-reaching autumn
Then suffers that first subconscious shiver
Realizing one was a fool to sit
So long on Time’s raft with naught to display
Content with oneself to refuse the bit
Only to learn that life has no replay
Life’s lesson, harsh but regardless still true
While Time rushes endless, not so for us
We must with the dole given us make due
Or prepare to reach our end without fuss
