Grandmother's House
Your Grandmother is sick my mother said
Be good my love, bring her some bread
Put down the matches, put down the mouse
Be a good girl, follow the path to Grandmother's house
So I grabbed my red hood and I kissed my mother
Never fear I said, I know not to speak to any other
Grandmother's house is lonely and the road is long
But I smiled because I had nothing to fear as I hurried along
I had paused by the path to examine a grub
When a man popped out from behind a shrub
I see you're alone little girl, so you're coming with me
This is where the story differs you see
This man was no wolf, this man was just cruel
I might have followed him, but mama didn't raise no fool
My basket on his head and my foot between his knees
The sly wolf collapsed moaning between the trees
With a grin and a chuckle I kept skipping through the wood
Get back here he yelled, you and your little red riding hood
