One Sweet Kiss

Every day I wake up and go through my normal routine
Brush my teeth, get dressed, take the puppy out to play.
I go through it alone, a smile on my face, nobody knows what I am hiding.
Any person has yet to see the side that I’m not confiding.
My wedding day is coming soon, and he’s not here to hold my hand.
I sit alone after work,
Browsing the internet for two wedding bands.
In his combat boots and new found self
He stands as one and fights for me.
Leaving me here, excited but alone, while he is keeping us free.
Our kisses goodbye, the excitement of reuniting
It all falls in place like such.
But the minute he touches me, I cherish each second.
Just one sweet kiss is enough.
It keeps me going until the next time we meet,
And get to say our I do’s.
It’s a loyal and compassionate but difficult time
As we wait to be together, asking ourselves when.
Today, my friends, I am a soldier’s princess.
Waiting to love on my hero again.
