Southern Summers In Virginia
Southern Summers in knee high grasses is where I’se been forever
Sun shone over the lake in Cousin Cadance’s backward
A lake spread cross oceans to a worlds that I’se never know
As I sit in the rich Virginian grass where I quickly grow
Every summer I add on a year
waiting on the day
That day I will be able to swim
To get wet and play
The older kids laughed
While engaging in fun
I stuck my foot in
Momma grabs real tight
Said “No chile you gotta wait!”
Oh god I can’t wait till the day
Till I can dive in and do backstrokes like a big chile
Chomping on each other like playful crocodiles
But Ima crocodile too
A chile crocodile
So you can’t stop me swimming for long
I swear Ima swim and chomp on the water like a song
