Oliver

When I walk through the door, your ears perk up.

You run to the door and trip over all my stuff.

You greet me by sticking your nose in awkward places.

When we got you, we thought this was just one of your phases.

Itʼs lasted 10 years, but I'm not complaining.

Because when you do it to my friends, it's really entertaining.

You've taught me a lot of things, like how to properly bury a bone.

And how whining is the best way to make yourself known.

We’ve grown up together, playing all the time.

Without you by my side, I couldn’t have made this climb.

You’re definitely my best friend, especially when life gets rough.

I know that I'll always have you and all your fluff.

For something that can't talk, you somehow know what to say.

You're always here for me when I have a bad day.

I've learned to be responsible, all because of you.

Since you decide to wake me up at 4 am, when you have to go poop.

Youʼve taught me to be loving, and how to care.

Even when I'm mad at you and all I do is glare.

I never thought that I’d fall in love so easily,

But you nuzzled your way in, oh so sneakily.

I know one day soon, we’ll have to say goodbye,

And on that day, I’ll do nothing but cry.

Before we part ways I want you to know,

One last secret, right before I go.

I'm thankful for you, and all that youʼve given me.

Without you my life just wouldn't be happy.
