The thing that got me,
was when you said,
Let's not have sex.
That line could have bought you a lifetime with me.
but it wouldn't have been your lifetime.
It would have been the lifetime
behind the bars
of the jailbirds I once knew.
Stealing lives,
something we could never do.
So I got twisted
and you started listin'
all the thoughts we could
and could not go through.
Writhing in the knots of love tied up in you,
intestines ripped and grappling for the freedom they once knew.
Let's not have sex,
heaven in a poison pill.
Sweet taste of freedom,
found on the lips of,
you.
Caught up in distortion
from speakers behind the pews.
Your heaven message, lost on my truth.
Your humanity came to church that day,
all decked out in flesh and pubes.
Your pill was too much for you to take.
When you never came,
I became the girl you once knew.
Humans doing the human thing.
You were Zeus to me.
We were gods on stars,
floating in tandem rainbow scarves
around the necks that mingled
and taught the difference between truth and farce.
Whispering stories of first fires and human escape.
Dreams of flight.
Lost in our refusal to initiate
that tangled path of jungle gooks,
hiding out inside my mind,
running from the gooks inside my thighs.
Avoiding the orange glow of the jungle bombs,
that could have been tied up in you.
Let's not have sex,
made you Swiss
and bought my love for you.
Your napalm free hands with their boundaries and safe zones,
tingled the very war torn flesh that made you king in my royal throne.
Ruling with grace and sorrow for the remnant mine zones,
Let's not have sex,
became a discordant overtone.
Dissecting your intent,
as your heart became overblown.
So much seed to sow,
So much love would grow.
Let's not have sex,
was a distant tribal moan.
A prehumanoid response to a situation delicate.
A house of honeycomb.
The leftovers
from the insatiable desire
to bed the two legged goddesses
with satin smiles.
You were different.
Until you weren't.
Dilemma.
Your seed aching to be sown.
Your words no longer ring that pure tibetan tone.
Let's not have sex,
a foreign language
that you could no longer moan.
Collateral set in,
it was time to cash in your chips,
the damage, this war zone, too great,
the mountains full of cliffs.
Before I knew,
the fire orange red of the napalm flew,
searing my flesh and scarring anew.
Let's not have sex,
the new battle cry.
The new enemy,
the one that came as a friend.
But, as friend could not cum
and lost the very thing that he came for,
truth.
So, let's do it like the chimps.
Angry and thrown through the cliffs.
I'll lose me,
if you lose you.
Then we'll never have to face the truth.
We were gods once,
only because we knew
that the humans do the things they do,
because they are afraid of the truth.
Gods run in packs.
Look to the stars,
there's millions of gods,
hoping we'll look past the farce.
Riding comets like rollerblades,
building castles in starscapes,
with only our cotton blankie capes.
Eternity abounds.
We will never die, godlike.
In sunscapes,
light rises only from the darkness.
I needed you
for the new day to dawn.
Greeted with napalm,
there's a lot of work to do.
I've got comets to lace,
a smile on my face.
Skipping asteroids on galaxies,
you haven't begun to know.

SassyRed

I absolutely LOVE this piece. The language is fierce. The emotion raw and unbridled and the flow...magic.

"Writhing in the knots of love tied up in you,
intestines ripped and grappling for the freedom they once knew. Let's not have sex, heaven in a poison
pill. Sweet taste of freedom, found on the lips of, you."

The message is masterful yet simple: I'll lose me, if you lose you. Then we'll never have to face the truth.

An all around strong piece. Please, whatever you do...keep writing and sharing your gift.
