The Normal Motions

Free will seems like something out of a fable

I only lead myself through the normal motions

It seems oppressing but much more stable

than attempting to challenge any social notions

Congratulations! You did it!

Well what else would I have done?

Allowed myself to fall to shame and pity?

It feels like I'd be the only one.

Had it not been forced down our throats,

Before we knew any other path,

Perhaps I'd feel like I have a choice,

Of the kind of life I wish to have.

Well what else would you do?

The thing is I don't know!

I couldn't tell you if I wanted to!

Because it's never been proposed.
